To do or not to do

Recently I've been seriously considering doing an Almace for my BLU, but still can't make up my mind.

Reasons to do Almace:

1. All Stealthkiller's fault, he made it sound like fking easy to complete it.

2. A nice change. Recently I've been doing nothing except working on Mythic and Maat cap, since those stuff doesn't require to play 5hrs a day, can just slowly working on it. And after a while it got extremely boring to do same thing over and over and see no progress or w/e. I either log on to grind $$, or do nyzul/einherjar/assault, or leech a Maat cap job. And that's getting very repetitive.

3. The fact that everyone and their mother having an empy is scaring me. I bet 3 months later I'm not allowed to play none-empy jobs anymore.

4. Not like I have anything else to do besides Mythic, which is gonna be easier to obtain in the future anyways.

Reasons not to do Almace:

1. Takes too much time and effort for someone with 1hr play time during weekday, and weekend it's impossible to claim Guk.....

2. Will slow down Mythic/Maat cap progress a hell lot(I'm already doing it very, very slowly....Any player that plays long enough would have completed all Maat cap jobs already by leeching)

3. BLU's dmg output isn't that bad without CDC if fighting EP mobs with spell spam, not to mention CDC can't self-SC(I rarely WS unless doing self-SC if I'm spell spamming on EP mobs). Making CDC kinda not worth all the effort to obtain unless you really love BLU and full time this job. Which is unlike Fudo to SAM, Tor to DRK, Hi to NIN and WF to COR....those WSs makes huge difference.

4. Most important of all, having went through all the BS for Arma, I fking hate empy trials from beginning to the end. Hate it hate it hate it. I still remember spending 18 hr of my life just to get one kill count for one NM, and stressed out to get myself into JP alliance for VNM kills.(When I started high dmg magian trials no NAs ever bother to do it, only JPs bother to camp NMs for hrs and team up to kill VNM which isn't as easy as today). Then it's that notorious Carabosse, which was also a pain at 85 when most ppl don't have right atma to kill fast and safely(again, I wonder why I started Carabosse trial that early when it can be done much faster nowadays)

I feel like I should go do an Almace, even just for the sake of something new to do, but don't really want to do it. I guess my obsession towards Death Penalty is stopping me, to a point that other gears can be ignored ._.

Besides randomly go help LS and friends when they're in Abyssea, there are other stuffs I tried to do while getting bored of repeating mythic/maat cap grind:

1. Voidwatch....it's pretty fun, and sometimes nice income and gear with luck, sadly it's extremly hard to get ppl intererested in doing VWNM atm, so I'm stuck ;(

2. Complete all quests and maps.....I just realized some of the quests are pretty interesting, and a nice break from gear grind hell.....just finished "An Undying Pledge" yesterday, and I almost cried while I read the story Q.Q

3. Play FFXIV...wut? :p

So Almace or no Almace, what to do?

  1. I think you need to check CDC and self-skillchain :)

Also, decent chance of a better sword for BLU when cap goes up?

It'd suck to be 2/3 done with Almace and something better appear.

  2. On "Reasons to do Almace":
    1- Glad it's not my fault. :P

3- CDC self-Lights. It's weird how many CDC players you play with but never seen it? XD

But I think if you are gonna do an Almace, you SHOULD level NIN. Like, a real lvl 90 NIN, not like the fake RDM and SAMS you're playing XD

    On "other stuff to do":
2- This reminds me of when I did "A Timely Visit". The story was moving, but the quest involves travel...yeah and travel + FFXI = bad. Still I enjoyed the quest, maybe because I havent quested (for fun) in FFXI for 5 years...and probably this will do for another 5 years.
Most quests are boring, time-consuming, and worst of all, not rewarding.

4- Help Zeig finish his Empy.
5- Level your fellow NPC :P
6- Play WoW :P (I know I know we talked about it, but getting the free trial won't hurt ._.)I know it's not FFXI lol.

  3. 1. No, I've never seen anyone self SC with CDC, they only spam the WS when TP reach 100%, I only see ppl complaining on the forum that CDC can't self SC with spells.....which spell to self-SC CDC with?

    2.And wtf, I have no $$ for NIN Q.Q

    3. Personally I don't think Almace will suck in the future.....it's empyrean after all, and hard to imagine empyrean got beaten up by another weapon....

If there's any weapon that'd beat almace, probably Tizona after update when SE buff it. And you know it's impossible to get it for me unless I win one for free one day XD

    4. I asked if you wanna farm KI yesterday and you said no it's not gonna happen, wtf. You even refuse to farm fish KI and would rather aim for Heqet KI on FRIDAY NIGHT(the time that's just impossible to claim heqet)

I gave you suggestion to do it efficiently, and you'd rather say no but do it in hard way, what can I do ;(

    5. I tried while doing GoV, but it won't lv up ;(

    6. I played WoW for a couple of days long time ago for a while on free account. But I don't like any of the classes(I tried Paladin, but don't like) ;(, so it won't get me in.

Same reason why FFXIV didn't hook me without classes I like.....I don't like h2h at all.

  4. Another way (instead of lving NIN and spend $$) is to lv WAR(need to lv it for maat cap anyways) and get red proc, then duo with another NIN or w/e.

Either way even camping NM and do VNM suck balls.

  5. 1- CDC has Distortion+Light properties.
    CDC -> CDC = Light.
CDC -> BT, Vanity Dive, any Gravitation spell = Darkness
I thought you already watched the "Hundred shields" videos on Youtube. The guy self-Lights very often with CDC -> CDC.

2- Well I suggested NIN because you can pretty much solo the Bri stage, with better red procs than BLU. Heck, you can drag my DRK for red and everything will be covered (except Sunburst).

4- I worry about Heqet's KI first because it is the rate-limiting step in the process of getting lanterns. Cep-kamuy's KI can be done with the CC group. Faster, with more ppl to proc red. But you can't bring a group THEN start camping Heqet.
Also, I was waiting for you to farm both KIs anyways but you know what happened to you last night LOL.

Also if you can kindly remind me of your efficient method, because I totally forgot about it XD

    Well, one method I wanted to adopt was to CW burn for KIs on BLU, but I lack the atmas. And you won't help me with them! ;_;

5- AoE burn in Kuftal..you got BLU..
6- So you found FFXI classes more rich, versatile and enjoyable? LOL
Sorry, but, in WoW, you got MANY more abilities per class, race-specific abilities (so yes, races matter!), and the pace is faster. Fights are busy and more packed with action. Fun boss mechanics, even normal dungeon bosses. And you can specialize your character in one of 3 different specs, further adding to the versatility and diversity of the characters.
Oh and the game has changed a lot since you last checked it out for sure, heck even I will find difficulty adapting if I check it out now XD

  6. 1. Oh, what I mean is CA self SC(like Savage-->gob rush), not CDC x2 SC.....how the hell BLU can WS twice without /SAM anyways ._.

    2. No $$ ;( I just bought 3 stacks of alex and now down to 300k only Q.Q

    4. Yeah I had headache and fall asleep ;( Zeig so mean ;(

Efficient method = Don't camp it when everyone else is camping with you. Don't camp on Friday night, camp it on Sun night. LOL

    5. Sounds boring ;<

    6. I never mentioned anything about more rich, versatile and enjoyable about classes.....I only said "I don't like any of the classes in WoW", but didn't say a word about FFXI classes are more rich and versatile.

What I meant was, I'm a huge FF fan, and played almost every FF except FF13 cuz I have no $$ for a console. So those classes meant a lot to me, I can finally play one of my all time favorite classes in a virtual world. Those classes are just classic. Classic image of white mage, classic image of red mage, classic image of dragoon. Those classes live with all the characters I've enjoyed and now they're deep in my mind, and now I can play as one of their job.

However, since I'm never a big fan of Warcraft series(I played 2 and 3, but never like it in any way), those classes never appeal me. Not to mention most of the classes and race has similar name as classical D&D RPGs. There are new name such as death knight and blood elf, but it's not as appealing as FF series class names.....I know FF class name also has cliche names, but names like White/black/red/blue mage are unique, also samurai/ninja hardly appear in other western RPGs as a class. Also there rarely a class named Dragoon/scholar/puppet master(although PUP is new to FF) and such.

That's the main reason why FFXIV don't appeal me that much, cuz classes suck balls
I can't find any class I enjoy.....although I also don't like how they're adding old classes into FFXIV, making the game not as unique....

You don't have to be a WoW salesman, I played it for a bit, and seen a shit tones of ppl playing it, my brother plays it and I often asked him about the game content(just to learn what makes a MMORPG successful). I'd say it's a better game than FFXI and more well designed in terms of game mechanic, but that doesn't mean it'll appeal me. When I play a game most of the time there are no rational reason to make me play it....one game is more well designed doesn't mean I'll like it, I've played and liked a shit tones of shit games, and disliked many well known popular games.
FFXIV is a bad game and I still play, enough said.

And tbh, out of all the none-FF MMOs, the only game I'm interested in atm is Star Wars Old republic and PSO2....that's also because I loved Star Wars KOTOR too much and PSO is what makes me started FFXI and changed myself into a MMORPG player. Both titles meant a lot to me, that's why when their sequel/MMORPG game going to release I will be interested.

    But WoW....Not a chance!

  7. Hell I even liked Warhammer online more than WoW....at least I liked the class in Warhammer online a lot. I even copied it's art style from concept art.

Sadly that game doesn't have "MMORPG essential", making it not as successful.

  8. Gonna post a bit more stuff, since Zieg started everything.

If you play a lot of games from big companies full with long history, you will find some uniqueness of how they tell stories in their game. Each company have different storytelling style when they make games.

I liked SE, liked Bioware(although not every title), liked Black Isle/Obsidian, kinda like(although more dislike really) Falcom, and I absolutely dislike Blizzard.

Star Craft or Diablo(can't remember which)was the first Blizzard game I've played, then I played Warcraft II, Diablo II, Warcraft III, Star Craft II....I played all those and it's more like because everyone and their mother is playing it, and I'm curious to see how good it is. Same reason why I started WoW on my brother's account(I even had access to mighty death knight from the beginning XD), just to check it out. And sadly I don't like any of the Blizzard games....ok I liked Star Craft 12 years ago, and that's all. Out of all the Blizzard games I've played, I only liked 1 game. And the main reason is probably I don't like how they tell the story.

I often feel they try to make their back ground story very big and complex, pretty much every Blizzard game manual I've read has quite a lot of reading....but for some reason it feels fake, and it's just not there, like a flat image.

FF series doesn't have big and complex background stories, but all the classes are so classic that it stays in my mind until today. You don't need 10000 words to back up the history and existence of Dragoon, Black mage, Red mage or Blue mage, they're just there. Now you changed to Blizzard games, the world they've created are just so flat that it feels like it doesn't exist, even after all the reading....I completely forgot the stories and background setting of Diablo, and the only character I remember from Star craft and War craft are Jim Rayner and Prince Arthas. (but didn't remember any background information Blizzard tried so hard to create)

I guess that's the emotional connection. I've been playing h2h weapon in FFXIV, and whenever I played the job I think about Amarant, Tifa, Sabin, Zell....and MNK from FF1 even. I used all those characters to beat the game(For some reason I often use MNK characters to beat other FF games....), those MNK characters are so reliable and dependable, that it established an emotional connection. You can say FFXIV is a shit game, with even less story than other games on the market. But it's connection with past FF series are still strong, making the game not a flat existence. It's the old and rich history of FF series that is backing FFXI and XIV up.

I don't like Blizzard's game, their story is empty....the only acceptable game is Star Craft...and maybe Star Craft II. But that's only acceptable, everything else fails. And for some reason, I've never play any Warhammer game before I started Warhammer online, but the world and background story of Warhammer online is just very believable, and not a flat existence.(After all Warhammer has existed for ages, with long enough history)

For some reason, Blizzard is just not good at creating a believable world. They tried, tried hard, and failed hard. Yes, I started a new lv 1 PLD, started my adventure in this world, traveled through cities, killed mobs, and lived in a world that looks rich in history, but in fact pretty empty. The game WoW is just not appealing, no matter how good the game mechanics are.

  11. I've thought about it, but I've heard terrible stories about how bad WoE is, and how hard it is to lot Coins of glory, and how it's actually harder than empy to complete.

Perhaps I should just stay CDC-less for now, probably gonna be a lot easier to finish after 2 years ;<
